Love Myself Silly

Posted by LeeAnn on February 14th, 2011 at 08:00am

Have you ever had a love affair with YOURSELF?  Instead of looking for signs of someone else loving you, what would happen if you made yourself the objective of your affection?

What might you do for you if you really treated yourself as the love of your life?

  • Take time to slow down and enjoy this moment?
  • Treat yourself to your favorite movement?
  • Prepare foods that nourish your body?
  • Pencil yourself in for a creative date?
  • Schedule regular down time?
  • Unhook from energy vampires (in the form of people, or activities)?
  • Live life by your own rules rather than the “herd’s” rules?
  • Make pleasure a regular part of your life?

Rather than letting the 14th of February be driven by the cultural story of shoulds and expectations, how about committing to love yourself silly?

Does the idea seem silly and self-indulgent?  I think that when we really love and respect ourselves, we are open and available to fully and freely love others.  When we love from over-flow we are able to give the best of ourselves.  I know there have been times I have loved from an empty tank and in the moment I have been less than loving to myself and/or others.

I invite you to give to yourself today.  If you want flowers … order some and have them delivered.  If you want to go out to dinner, make a reservation and invite others to join YOU.  And… who can you share your love with today?  From your place of over- flow, what loving gesture can you pass along?  Pay it forward – rather than looking for special love – let love be special to all you touch today!
